When I moved out, I thought... peace. A room to myself, where I could play music as loud and as long as I want.
Unfortunately not, at present my PC is sitting in the living room and with so much as a monotone beep in the wrong direction, I get the evil eye. Far be it for me to disturb Eastenders, headphones are the order of the day over here.
How many of us suffer the tinny, high pitched whistle put out by those which come with your soundcard? Worse still, with those PC ‘bundles’ you buy which claim ‘Stereo Headphones with inbuilt Microphone’ that are invariably a hunk of plastic junk you would expect to get out of a particularly expensive set of crackers, 'faithfullly reproducing' the sound (provided it was recorded inside a small tin-can with a chorus of Snakes for backing vocals).
Why then, dear reader, do you insist in using these hunks of junk to listen to both the climatic explosion as you 'own' someone at Counterstrike or the deep thumping bass of Windowlicker? These days, anyone with a taste for audio would scoot themselves down to a HiFi shop and pick up an even half decent pair of headphones for at least 30 or 40 quid.. I have (had) some Senheisers which suited me well for listening to music on the Marantz, and yet I'd use these tinny piles of rubbish for listening to MP3s or playing games. MADNESS, I tells ya.
But how many decent pairs of headphones come with a built in microphone, Kna? Come on, tell us that.. well who better to answer that question than the veritable king of headset technology, Plantronics? If you've never heard of them then you've likely never worked in a Call Centre before. Plantronics are one of the largest suppliers of Telephony headsets in the world and know a thing or two about getting the sound from your gob to someone elses ear and vice versa.
